Standardisation Processes, September 7, 2023
PRECINCT (Preparedness and Resilience Enforcement for Critical Infrastructures Cascading Cyber-physical Threats) has contributed to the creation of two new standardisation documents for critical infrastructure (CI), as part of the PRECINCT project’s results.
The project aims to improve the resilience of Critical Infrastructure (CI) networks against cyber-physical threats. This allows for better prediction and analysis of probable CI disruptions caused by malicious or natural incidents, as well as the anticipated cascading impact events may have across the CI network.
New standards or standardisation of processes will enable organisations to provide a solution that will work effectively across many sectors, or potentially to provide solutions that are interoperable with other suppliers’ tools. They will also help maximise PRECINCT’s impact in support of relevant strategies of European Commission, the Security Research Strategy and the Industry for Security Strategy.
The two standards published refer to the following processes :
- Document 1 sets a new standard in relation to crisis management for critical infrastructure.
- Document 2 proposes standards for emergency management and incident situational reporting for critical infrastructure.
