INLECOM at the Kick-off of SMARTIN: Advancing AI-Driven Solutions for Smarter Infrastructure enabling future mobility

Barcelona, 22–23 September 2025 – The Horizon Europe-funded SMARTIN project officially launched its activities with a two-day kick-off meeting in Barcelona, hosted by project coordinator ERTICO – ITS Europe. The project brings together 17 partners from across Europe with the common goal of making transport infrastructure smarter, safer, more resilient, and sustainable through advanced digital and AI-driven solutions.

INLECOM is proud to lead the activities of the Work Package entitled “Tools for holistic infrastructure monitoring, control and predictive assessment.” Within SMARTIN, INLECOM is developing an AI engine and infrastructure health monitoring system that will fuse multi-source data to enhance predictive maintenance and proactive incident detection. These innovations will empower operators with actionable insights, enabling smarter decision-making, reduced disruptions, and improved safety for all road users.

SMARTIN’s innovations will be validated through four large-scale pilots in Barcelona, Turin, Latvia, and Budapest, showcasing solutions ranging from improved cycling infrastructure safety to multimodal coordination of regional transport networks and increased efficiency of inland waterways.

By aligning with the European Green Deal, the Vision Zero 2050 goal of eliminating road fatalities, and the Digital Europe agenda, SMARTIN represents a significant step toward transforming Europe’s transport infrastructure.

INLECOM is excited to contribute its expertise in AI and digital innovation to this ambitious initiative, helping shape a safer, more sustainable, and digitally empowered transport future for Europe.
